THE ADOLESCENT/YOUTH ATHLETE PROGRAM

The Adolescent/Youth Athlete Program is specially designed to enhance adolescent athletic performance, growth, maturation and minimise injury risk during those developmental years. Our program is designed to educate and guide youth and adolescent athlete's through training, treatment and monitoring to enhance growth, maturation and development.

Our team uses the technology, experience, and strategies used from elite sport to help youth and adolescents through those developmental years to minimise injury risk and provide tailored training that considers both short and long term developmental and sporting goals. The program focusses on addressing areas of weakness identified during initial testing and optimising movement patterns and function that enhances sports performance, minimises injury risk and optimises long term development.

Our Adolescent/Youth Athlete Program includes a variety of assessments, treatments, and techniques, specific for developing athletes to enhance growth and maturaiton. This includes:​

1. In-Depth Musculoskeletal & Movement Assessment
A thorough assessment using our contemporary technology to obtain baseline range of motion, strength, balance, function and stability data provides us the foundation to deliver individualised care.

2. Individualised Development Program & Treatment
Based on the data obtained, an individual development program is implemented to take into their sport practice. Where necessary, individual treatment techniques are also used to address deficits identified and reduce growth related muscle tightness. Learn more about ​our Treatment & Therapy.

3. Individual Training Program
A tailored training program is then implemented to target areas of weakness and enhance development and maturation. The program is individualised with specific feedback, alongside regular communication with coaches, to ensure a collaborative approach to long term development.

4. Technology Interventions — Maximising Results
We utilise technology, used within elite sport, to monitor and enhance adolescent/youth development and athleticism. This includes the use of our monitoring technology to re-assess and adjust the program to ensure key areas are improving and injury risk is minimal.

5. Support & Guidance
Throughout the process, continuous support and guidance is provided to ensure enhance education and achieve growth and maturation goals. We educate throughout the Adolescent/Youth Athlete Program journey on injury prevention strategies and loading factors that enhance development.

As part of the program, we address a variety of factors that contribute to your growth and maturation:

  • Motor Control: Described as the initiation, grading, and regulation of movement involving the musculoskeletal and nervous system.
  • Peak Height Velocity (PHV): Described as the period of time in which a child experiences the fastest upward growth in their stature.
  • Apophyseal Injuries: Describes types of injuries and inflammation at the site of major tendinous insertion onto a growing bony prominence, common in active adolescents.
  • Proprioception: Our perception of location, movement and body action. Combines stability, balance, and motor control to provide feedback on our joint position and velocity - important specifically for enhancing joint position sense and landing mechanics.
